INTRODUCTION:
This morning we begin the fifth of the seven letters dictated by our Lord to the apostle John. These letters were written to seven churches in Asia Minor that were in existence at the time when John recorded them, but they have significance for the church in all ages. Last week we finished up chapter two and this morning we begin chapter three.

This morning we will finish chapter two and the first four letters to the seven churches to whom this book was addressed. As I have already stated these seven churches represent all the churches during this time that we call the church age, from the formation of the church at Pentecost until the Lord’s returns to take the church to be with Him.

As we come to our third message of Revelation I wanted to begin this morning by sharing with you the five different approaches to interpreting Revelation that are adopted by different people and then the approach that I will take that I believe is what we will find in our Scripture passage this morning.
The first interpretive approach is the nonliteral or allegorical approach which believes that the book of Revelation is one great allegory going far beyond the natural symbolism which is found in the book.
